Elm Grove Kitchen Remodel
This Elm Grove kitchen remodel project was a truly collaborative effort. Our clients had not yet bought the house when they asked us to walk through and provide feedback on possible updates. Previously owned by a family who had made little to no improvements, this home was ready for some care and attention. The dominating blue of the kitchen cabinets made the space feel small and overwhelming, and this was the problem to be solved.
The Blue Period Is Over
Gutted to studs, soffits were removed to allow for larger cabinets and more ‘breathing room.’ The layout was rethought to improve flow and focus attention on the dramatic hood and tile backsplash. A gas cooktop and large hood dominate the corner and ground the new space. Double ovens were among the new appliances and were installed nearby to allow more storage under the cooktop. Dark hardwood flooring sets off the dramatic white of the cabinets and countertops and a contrasting island make the room feel much larger. A small breakfast bar was installed adjacent to the staircase and provides some easy, casual seating for homework or dinner. New windows take advantage of ample natural sunlight and truly, this kitchen shines.
